I am NOT DONE YET
My son, Phil, has had Type 1 Diabetes since he was 7 months old. He is now 42 years old. He founded Team Type 1 and wrote a book called “Not Dead Yet.” I was told he would have be dead, have renal failure or be blind by 24 years of age. Instead, he formed a cycling team of eight persons with Type 1 and raced across the United State multiple time (Race Across America). He founded Team Novo Nordisk (http://teamnovonordisk.com), he founder SuperSapiens (http://supersapiens.com)
All of the above spectacular but he still has the disease. I am still a mother who wants her child disease free. . He still has to worry about all moments of every day of his life.. He still has to do 150 extra processes to manage glucose before an athletic event.
I ride for donations to end this for all persons with Type 1 Diabetes.
The "Strong Day" anniversary of Type 1 Diabetes is at 42 years. His most recent article
All forty two years I have done something for research for a cure.
I am writing to express my deepest gratitude for your unwavering support of my Juvenile Diabetes Research Foundation (JDRF) rides throughout 2023 and hope you will continue supporting me as I ride to 75! Your generosity and belief in my cause have fueled my journey every step of the way.
With sincere appreciation,
Joanna
